Good comments Bruce.
In my experience working with people, training leaders and personal growth, those that seek perfection in others around them suffer from perfection expectation anxiety. It's unachievable. It's completely self defeating! In other words, they perceive a lack of perfection on their own part and thus in order to validate their own self worth, they look for the failure of perfection in others. In so doing, they lament "Well obviously "they" don't measure up and therefore "I'm okay". Translation: Measured against so-and-so (whomever), they manage to see themselves as more accomplished, prettier, more masculine/macho, make more money, live in a bigger/nicer house, etc., etc., etc..
I think instead of perfection in others in order to validate one's own self, it's more productive personally as well as more affirming to recognize that perfecion is a "heavenly" trait rather than a physical world trait. And maybe that's why they call this earth and not heaven? ;-)
Best always!
