So that's the difference between them. But still even after your concise and insightful explanation I still feel the empty void before I asked this question.

Maybe the real question I wanted to ask subconsiously was:
Where can I find out about the entire business system for MLM, in order for me to decide for myself wheather it's legitimate or not??

So any tips on some website or book that quickly maps out the business system around the MLM phenomena? Without me having to trial-and-error in real life.
That would greatly explain what MLM is all about for me, thanks.
