Wow, that's a lot of twittering and tweeting. I have an account, too, but it's just sitting there right now. I haven't really explored the potential of it. Before I jump in and start following and being followed, I'll have to get my bearings a bit. This thread motivates me to get going on it! _________________ http://www.mlmhomebusinessopportunity.org/ |

Okay Lisa, I'll jump on in! Here's mine:
http://twitter.com/davemehl
I actually signed up for this twitter account as part of an internet marketing course. I have a a twhirl account, too, which puts my twitter updates right on my desktop.
Do you twitter and twhirl at the same time? Evidently it's all the rage these days, but I'm not entirely sure why. I assume I'm going to learn more as I go forward with the training.
In any case, I really appreciate the invitation. I'm looking forward to getting the concept down a bit more.

Hi All,
Some people get what Twitter is about right away, but others are confused about what all the fuss is about.
If you aren't sure about Twitter, or don't really know what to do with it, here's some ideas to help you get started with Twitter:
3 Ways Network Marketers Can Use the Social Networking Tool, Twitter
Twitter is a wonderful tool you can use for marketing, networking, keeping in touch with your downline and for team building. And best of all it's free!
But many people still dismiss Twitter as just another time wasting social networking fad. But for smart network marketers it just may be the new killer app.
Why? Here's 3 ways you can use Twitter to promote and build your networking business:
#1 - Marketing - You can use Twitter for marketing your business by setting up an account and posting good tips and information about your products and your business. It's easy since you are limited to only 140 characters per post and you don't need to be a great writer to do it. If you can write short sentences, you can use Twitter. Check out my Twitter account at http://twitter.com/LindaLocke to see how I do this.
People can get a sense of who you are and get to know you better, which helps them to decide if they want to work with you. You can also add a short bio on your Twitter profile page and add a link to your website or blog.
To promote your Twitter page, just add the link to your website or blog and to your signature file on emails, any articles you write, and discussion board posts.
Whose team would you rather join? Someone who is using cutting edge tools or someone who is still doing it the hard way? And if you want to attract younger people to your business using Twitter is one of the best ways to connect with them.
#2 - Networking - Twitter is a wonderful networking tool and allows you to follow and network with people you choose based on your business and preferences. You could use it to communicate with your upline and share ideas and tools to help you in your business. And you can use the replies feature to ask questions and get feedback quickly on ideas and problems you have.
#3 - Keeping in Touch with Your Downline - Staying in touch with your downline is easy with Twitter. You can set up a separate account for this and invite your downline members to join using Twitter's invite by email option.
Once your team is on Twitter you can all follow each other and you can share news, announcements, and other information quickly with one short post. What a timesaver!
And any downline member can ask questions and get the answers online too. If you have an international downline, this is a wonderful way to include them with no expense to you or them.
Hopefully these ideas have encouraged you to try a new marketing method and have some fun by giving Twitter a try.

Thanks for that explanation, Linda. Your point about the cutting edge is a good one. Real leaders understand the tools available to them.
Okay, I'm in!

I'm confused about the difference between Twittering and texting. They kind of sound the same. I guess being FREE is one reason to use it over texting. _________________ Mary Brand

There are two ways to speak to people, privately or publically. When I post here on this board, I'm posting publically. Even though my answer is to you, anyone can read it.
Texting for me has always been a one on one thing, private, not public.
On Twitter, you have the option of posting to all and then sending a private message to someone you wish to speak to privately. You can also publically answer someone, again where everyone can read it. _________________ Audrey

Hi All,
I've started following a few people on this thread and now find myself being followed by a whole bunch of people who do not seem part of this thread. Anybody know what makes that happen? I'm not exactly the most interesting person to follow at this point since I'm yet to write anything on Twitter myself.
Thanks,

Dave, I think it has to do with the whole "3 degrees of separation" thing. The people that follow you, see the people you follow. One thing leads to another and you start seeing new "faces".
I've had that happen, too. That part is kinda fun. _________________ Brian Rooney
