BIZ => The Education we REALLY Need
Hello Business Associates:
How many of us here were told that our School or our College or our University would adequately prepare us for the REAL WORLD - of jobs / businesses / the professions - even for LIFE?
Well - we were fooled, in my opinion.
When we were in High School they said - "Take these courses and you'll be ready for College".
=> NOT TRUE in my opinion.
When we were in College they said - "Take these courses and you'll be ready for the real world".
=> NOT TRUE in my opinion.
Here are a few reasons WHY - - -
For starters, how many courses did we take in - getting a positive attitude - goal setting - responsibility - effective listening - excellence - pride - leadership - money management - truly 'understanding' others?
NOT MANY (none?)
How important are those lessons in the successful execution of our job functions / businesses / professions?
H-U-G-E
The courses we really needed for the REAL world - they never gave us.
WHY? Poor Question.
Heaven forbid we should ever make our 'academic institutions' accountable for our "preparation for the REAL world.
YES, of course we need what we receive from them -- but it's NOT enough to "prepare" us to succeed. Period.
Here's a list of 12 Courses that would FAR better prepare us for success in - relationships - friendships and the working world. Imagine the fun we could have had in school if it was REAL world oriented.
1)-- Creating a POSITIVE ATTITUDE
We become what we think about. And what steadily 'influences' this is - the books we read - the info we listen to - the people we associate with, etc. The magic of creating a positive attitude = the secret of success. Building quality performance 'starts' with a positive attitude. Why not offer a course on HOW to establish and maintain a one? Hmmm...
2)-- Setting [and Exceeding] GOALS
We all know we should set goals - very few of us know how. We shouldn't confuse 'activity' with 'accomplishmen't. Goals are the roadmap to success. Selecting and exceeding goals increases our chances for success and personal satisfaction. When is the last time we took a goal setting course in our educational program?
3)-- UNDERSTANDING People
Sometimes people need our help, and have a strange way of expressing it. A brisk walk in the other person's shoes - to better understand how to deal with them - is absolutely vital. This is the very 'gateway' to marketing success - to MLM growth - to customer service. In our industry, it is a PEOPLE Biz.
4)-- Establishing PRIDE
Having pride in ourselves - our companies - our businesses & professions - and in what we do. Liking ourselves - and our careers. Building a belief system. Developing pride skills - these are all so critical -especially in marketing..
5)-- Striving for EXCELLENCE
This is about "raising the bar" on how we conduct ourselves in the REAL world. It's about - honor - ethics - integrity when dealing with others. It's about GIVING to others, with no hidden agenda. It's about being "professionals" in everything we do. How much of this is taught in our classrooms?
6)-- LISTENING Effectively
The best way to know how to serve a customer - help a co-worker - understand a biz associate => is to LISTEN. The vital importance of listening - with the intent to understand - and then, with the intent to respond - means everything. Listening is probably the weakest personal development skill we possess.
7)-- Taking RESPONSIBILITY
WE need to 'take responsibility' - for our actions - for what happens to us - and for the success of our job / company / business / profession. If we take a position of thinking "everyone else" is at fault - we need to think again. How to accept and take responsibility - how to 'take ownership' - these attributes are NOT taught in the usual curriculums today, unfortunately.
8 )-- Embracing CHANGE
Change occurs every single day - and it's resisted by most of us (often fought) - even though it's often better than what we now have. We need to learn (and teach) the ability of how to capture the opportunity of change.
9)-- Effective COMMUNICATION
Communicating to be 'understood' - communicating to understand. Co-workers / Biz Partners and Customers all want clear, concise information. Communication skills, the most important ((and least taught)) skills in the universe. Why IS that? Training on the 4 different "personalities" (the 4 COLORS ' Blue / Green / Yellow / Red) is critical.
10)-- Building RLATIONSHIPS
Establishing, building and maintaining relationships - ones that last, is KEY to success in the REAL world.. There is NO disputing this. Methods and techniques to build respect / friendships / relationships - with co-workers / customers / team members (and [family[/u] - brings the "value first" method of embracing others.
11)-- Making Good DECISIONS
Gaining the ability to make effective decisions (which means 'taking risks') is critical in the REAL world. The steps of effective decision making are 'combined with' the message that it's OK to make mistakes. Again, it's about taking responsibility without fear and guilt. NOT tayght in our Educational Systems.
12)-- Working as a TEAM
Finally, NONE of us can make it alone. NO person is an island. The power and synergy of one plus one is 10 times greater than two. Understanding how teams work - individually and collectively - will lead us to greater success. Creating a Team environment where open communication, honesty, and hard work are valued and respected - will enhance our futures greatly.
How about THAT for a 12-Step Course of Studies?
Now, let's conclude with another TRUTH - - -
At the end of the day - WE are responsible for our own success.
Right?
As good as all of the above Educational Courses are (and they are, for sure - YES!!) - it is WE who must take control of our own personal development - to achieve our goals and dreams.
Right?
Sincerely / Peter A.

Big thanks, Peter!
U always inspire n motivate me to do more in this business!
Next week, i'll have an opportunity to arrange the visit of 40 college students (Faculty of Business Management) to attend the Company Presentation of NWM Business Success Model. They also have the obligation to submit a summary report to their lecturer of what they got.
As they can be my future team (at least minimum of 10% of 40), and considering that they will graduate soon in the next 3 months, please give your advise, of HOW to MAKE their MINDSET OPEN that NWM is the best choice with a very SIMPLE WAY, instead of looking for an ordinary job (with a "Fresh Graduate" salary )
Your inspiration n support is highly appreciated!
